O’Neill scotches Keane reports

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has dismissed continuing rumours linking him with a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane.

A swap deal involving John Carew has been mooted for some time in the press, but O'Neill says that there is no foundation to such talk.

He stated:"I see us linked with players and some of our players are being linked with other clubs, but at this minute I have nothing to report.

"There is no definite movement in either direction. Maybe like most Premier League managers, I'd probably like to keep it that way.

"Robbie Keane? There is absolutely nothing in it."

Meanwhile, O'Neill has spoken of his relief that Villa midfielder Moustapha Salifou escaped unhurt from a gun attack on the Togo national team bus heading to the African Cup of Nations which left three people dead.

He added on the club's official website:"I know that there was an incident with the England cricket team not so long ago I think in Sri Lanka, there was certainly a cricketing incident.

"But I wasn't really expecting anything like this at all.

"So as I said he's pretty shaken, but he's unhurt and that's the most important thing."
