Chelsea’s Filipe Luis is being linked with a return to Atletico Madrid as his former club are said to be monitoring his situation, according to reports from the Telegraph.
The 29-year-old completed a £15.8million move from the La Liga champions last summer, but has been unable to overtake first choice left-back Cesar Azpilicueta in his favoured position.
He is believed to be unhappy with his very limited role at the club, but the player came out to refute claims that he was feeling unsettled at Stamford Bridge.
However, the speculation has alerted his former side, who are said to be open to resigning Luis should Blues boss Jose Mourinho give the green light for his departure.
Mourinho is already planning to reinforce his back-line in the summer, and may not be prepared to let the Brazilian leave after just one year at the club.
There is already a shortage of wing-backs at Stamford Bridge, consisting of right-back Branislav Ivanovic, left-back Luis, and Azpilicueta, who is capable of playing on both sides.
