Pablo Barrera targets Anfield success

West Ham United winger Pablo Barrera is expecting a tough Premier League test at Liverpool on Saturday, but he is hopeful they can claim a much-needed victory to ease their relegation fears.

The Hammers sit rooted to the foot of the table with just nine points from their opening 13 games and the summer signing from Mexican outfit Pumas de la UNAM wants to help beleaguered manager Avram Grant as they seek to turn their fortunes around.

Grant was handed a vote of confidence from club vice-chairman Karren Brady earlier in the week and the 23-year-old believes if they can start converting their chances then the wins will finally arrive.

"It will be a very difficult match, but we need to start winning," Barrera told the club's website.

"The team is playing well despite being frustrated by the results in the recent matches. We have a great chance to get something from Liverpool.

"Against Blackpool, we should have won the match. In general the team played very well. We created a lot of chances, but we didn't score.

"We just need to keep working to come out from this period, because I believe that we've got quality in the squad to do it.

"Of course mentally we are not in our best moment because we have not been winning. However, the team is playing well, so we just need a little bit extra to turn draws into wins."
