Newcastle United duo Daryl Murphy and Ciaran Clark are expected to be on the sidelines for the next two matches, reports the Chronicle.
Rafael Benitez’s side will continue their Premier League promotion campaign this weekend following the conclusion of the international break.
As it stands, the Magpies have a slender one-point lead at the top of the Championship with eight games left to play.
The North-East outfit have gone three league games without a victory having recorded two draws and a defeat, but with a seven-point advantage over the playoff places, they are on course to secure automatic promotion back to the top flight.
This weekend, though, the Chronicle reports that Murphy and Clark will be absent from Saturday’s visit of Wigan Athletic at St James’ Park, as well as next Wednesday’s home match against Burton Albion.
Murphy has been on the treatment table for the past week with a calf injury, while Clark has been on the sidelines since earlier this month with medial ligament damage.
It is believed that neither will make it for the next two fixtures, but the publication claims that Grant Hanley could be included in the squad after sitting out of the international break with a minor injury.
