Neil Warnock has paid Roberto Martinez what could be considered the ultimate compliment in the build up to Everton’s clash with Crystal Palace tomorrow, reports the Daily Mirror.
The newly appointed Palace boss, believes that Martinez has done so well during his time as Everton boss that his next boss is likely to be managing either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Warnock said: “I think his next job will be one of the top two clubs in Spain, I think he’s that type of manager – he’s done everything right. He’s built up from the lower reaches, he’s handled every level and players want to play for him.”
Warnock and Martinez could be considered complete polar opposites with regards to their touchline manner, with the Everton boss calm and composed and Warnock usually anything but.
But Warnock does not think his opposite number lacks passion.
He added: “I remember saying to him ‘do you ever shout?’ He such a gentleman but he does care and he’s very passionate and you see it occasionally, he just lets it slip.
“I think we all have our ways and I think everyone cares differently – it doesn’t mean because you rant and rave on the touchline you’re any more passionate than somebody who never says a word.”
