Payet believed Moses was better than him

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has revealed that former star-man Dimitri Payet used to believe that Victor Moses was a better player than him.

The Nigerian, who spent time at West Ham, has excelled back at Chelsea this season after enjoying a revival under the guidance of Antonio Conte and was rewarded earlier this week with a fresh deal at Stamford Bridge.

However, prior to the current campaign, Moses was a forgotten man in the Premier League but Payet, who was widely considered to be one of the best players in the league before his January departure to Marseille, always thought Moses was a superior player.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Chelsea, and quoted by SquawkaWest Ham boss Bilic said:

“Payet said that even including himself, Victor is the best player that we have in West Ham. “I mean seriously. It was about time that he showed what he had in himself and exploded in a positive way – he has done it. He had it in him.”

Despite the Frenchman’s beliefs, Moses will have to do a bit more in order to be considered to be better than Payet but he is likely to be able to boast a Premier League winner’s medal at the end of the season.
