Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stated that star striker Sergio Aguero is fit and ready to return to first-team action against Liverpool later today.
The Argentina international has been on the sidelines of late, and missed his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Colombia this week.
City have struggled for goals in recent weeks without the former Atletico Madrid poacher and were held to a goalless draw against Aston Villa last time out.
Aguero is widely regarded as one of the best centre forwards in the world game, with City a much more dangerous proposition with him in their side.
Pellegrini has stated that the South American will feature against Liverpool, but David Silva is not yet ready to return to the fold.
“Sergio is fit – he’s ready to come back,” Sky Sports quote Pellegrini as saying.
“David continues with some small sprain in his ankle, so it’s a risk for him to play. Unfortunately also, Samir Nasri is injured. Bony and Vincent Kompany are also injured.”
City are currently top of the Premier League table and will hope to record another three points against Jurgen Klopp’s side to stay there.
Pellegrini has also led the Etihad Stadium outfit through to the next stage of the Champions League.
