Manchester City’s new manager Pep Guardiola has made Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere his number one transfer target, according to The Sun.
The Catalan trainer will replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium and has wasted little time in making his influence felt, with the English side already concluding a deal to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund.
The German’s arrival is expected to mark the exit of Yaya Toure, with Guardiola seemingly set to completely revamp City’s options in the centre of the park.
Wilshere has suffered with serious injuries in recent years and only returned to fitness at the very end of the campaign.
Despite a lack of playing time for Arsenal, the Londoner has been included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad and is expected to start in a holding midfield role at Euro 2016 for the Three Lions.
Arsenal have signed Granit Xhaka for a large fee this sumer and as such could be willing to look at an offer for Wilshere from City.
