Phil Brown set for Hartlepool

Phil Brown ManagerIt is believed that former Hull City manager Phil Brown is set to take over at Victoria Park according to Sky Sports news.

Brown’s last delve into management was a spell at League One club Preston North End from which he was dismissed 12 months ago.

The 53 year old is reckoned to be ready to step down to the same league again in order to prove he still has the abilities to manage at the top level.

Despite once managing in the premier league masterminding a survival campaign in the 2008/2009 season, there is a heavy appeal to return to a club where he started his career, making over 200 appearances as a player.

The outspoken boss is not overlooking any opportunities as he searches for a new position in the hotseat at a new club, and Brown realises he has to run the rule over a large number of clubs, including Hartlepool.

Phil Brown spoke to Sky sports news about his current situation saying “I have spoken to a number of football clubs during my time out since Preston and I have had one or two very good offers, but it doesn’t matter where you are in life you have to consider your own situation”.

When asked specifically about Hartlepool, Brown mentioned the links he had in the region would help him settle into the role, and that the role is one he is definitely mulling over.

He added “It is a former club of mine and I have spoken to them on two, maybe three occasions and we will see what this week brings.”
