West Brom have emerged as possible contenders to sign Lyon striker Frederic Piquionne.
The 31-year-old, who impressed during his loan spell at Portsmouth last term, is believed to be available for £800,000.
Fulham, West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers have also been linked with the forward who scored 11 goals in 45 appearances for Pompey last term.
Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo continues to be linked with Stoke City striker James Beattie but may turn his attention towards Piquionne, who is expected to travel to England for talks about his future this week.
Albion's only captures since they sealed their promotion from the Championship last month have been Pablo Ibanez and Steven Reid.
Meanwhile, Albion have cooled reports linking them with Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop.
