Pato has been heavily linked with a move away from the Brazilian top flight in recent weeks, with Liverpool and Manchester United also keen on the 26-year-old.
However, it looks as if the Blues will secure a deal for the former AC Milan attacker’s services, with manager Guus Hiddink already revealing his desire to sign a new centre-forward amid his lack of options.
The champions were sweating over the fitness of star striker Diego Costa when he was taken to the hospital with an injured shin following their 3-3 draw with Everton, but luckily the Spain international only bruised his tibia.
Yet, Costa could miss Chelsea’s crunch match with Arsenal this weekend, further increasing the need for the Blues to sign Pato this month.
Pato made 35 appearances on loan with Sao Paolo last season, scoring 15 goals.
