Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he is happy with the amount of possession his side have had this season and with the fitness levels of his players.
The North London side have not lost any of their last seven Premier League fixtures and look well placed to put forward a challenge for the top four and Champions League qualification this term.
The Argentine trainer has urged his side to take control of the ball and to press the opposition high up the pitch, with his ideals of how the game should be played starting to sink in with a young White Hart Lane contingent.
Pochettino has stated that he is happy with how his side have conducted themselves this season but has stressed that results are the most important thing.
“It’s good, that stat, but football is about winning games, not just about running,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“It’s true that our style is to press and to run and to show togetherness on the pitch. But then we need to score, we need to play better with the ball than the opponent.
“I think we have a good balance between running and possession. Maybe we are one of the best teams in possession and in our fitness.
“It’s a very good balance because I think it’s Manchester City, Manchester United and us who have the most possession and we are also in the top for running.
“I am very happy. We can improve, but I am very happy with the way we have played in the last few months.”
Tottenham host Liverpool at White Hart Lane later today and will hope for three points against Jurgen Klopp’s men to boost their league position.
