Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that his side must take the positives from yesterday’s clash against Liverpool, despite not finding the breakthrough in a 0-0 draw.
The White Hart Lane side hosted the Reds in Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge of the Merseysiders, with the visitors having an excellent recent record against Spurs.
Despite both teams having opportunities to score in an end-to-end clash, the spoils were shared in a stalemate.
Pochettino stated after the game that his side were the better of the teams and that the hosts’ performance was positive.
“We created more clear chances to score and if one team deserved to win in the end it was us,” he told the Tottenham official website.
“I’m very pleased with the players, they put in a big effort, a fantastic performance.
“It was no coincidence that when Nacer was out with the injury that Liverpool created their best chance from the corner.
“After that, we dominated for the last 25 minutes of the first half, had three clear chances and were unlucky not to score.
“In the second half it was 50-50, Harry had a chance and he was also unlucky not to score.
“In the end, we need to be happy because the performance was good and we can take positives. We showed we are solid and difficult for our opponents. We’re still young and we improve every day.”
Spurs have ambitions of finishing in the top four this season and are now eight games unbeaten in the Premier League after losing on the opening day of the campaign.
Harry Kane had Clinton N’Jie both had chances to win the game for the home team, but in the end both sides will be relatively satisfied with a point.
