Portsmouth have wasted little time in making their first signing since the transfer ban placed on the club was lifted after snapping up Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.
Owusu-Abeyie has joined the south coast club on loan for the remainder of the season from Spartak Moscow.
The transfer ban which was placed on the Premier League's bottom club last October was lifted on Tuesday following confirmation that they had cleared outstanding transfer debts owed to other clubs.
Manager Avram Grant has continually stressed that he had potential deals lined up and the arrival of Owusu-Abeyie at Fratton Park is expected to be the first of many similar moves.
The 23-year-old forward began his career in England with Arsenal before moving on to Moscow in 2006.
He made 19 Premier League appearances during a loan spell back in England with Birmingham City during the 2008-09 campaign.
