Dave Kitson appears to have played his last game for Stoke City after Potters chairman Peter Coates confirmed that they were looking to sell the former Reading striker in the January transfer window.
Kitson, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough, has scored just three times in 17 appearances for Stoke since moving to the Britannia Stadium in a £5.5million deal 18 months ago.
Coates said:"He is like any other player. We will have to wait and see what happens. I'm not aware there has been any interest in him, but that can quickly change of course.
"There are a lot of permutations when it comes to January and it doesn't necessarily revolve around Kitson. It depends what opportunities come along but we will not pay through the nose.
"It's impossible to tell at this stage what will happen, though, because you don't know who may be moving. We are looking around and if there's anything we like out there we may do something.
"We have too many players at the moment and we could do with getting some out. It's not good for the players when they aren't playing, while it also makes it more difficult to manage the football club."
