Gustavo Poyet has claimed that he would not be surprised to see Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez end up at Real Madrid should the Spanish giants come knocking.
The Mexico international, fresh from Gold Cup glory with his nation, exceeded all expectations in his first season in England in 2010/11, and became a mainstay in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting XI.
Rumblings in the English press stipulate that Chicharito could be rewarded for his performances with a new contract, but Poyet feels the 23-year-old would move to the Bernabeu given the chance.
“I respect United, but there are much bigger teams, including Real Madrid. Due to their history they are bigger than United. I don’t think it would be a surprise for Chicharito to go to Real,” the Brighton manager, who is currently working as a pundit at the Copa America, stated.
