Outgoing Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini would be interested in taking over at Everton should Robert Martinez be sacked at the Goodison Park club before next season, according to The Daily Mail.
The Chilean trainer will leave the Etihad Stadium this summer and make way for the arrival of Pep Guardiola, who is set to move to the ambitious club from Bayern Munich.
Pellegrini is hence out of work and is being linked with a stay in the Premier League.
Everton have had a frustrating campaign by their high standards, with a mid-table finish expected to see Martinez shown the door ahead of the 2016-17 season.
A wealth of potential replacements are being touted as targets in the press, but should Pellegrini be available it would be exciting arrival for the Toffees faithful.
Everton expect a struggle to hold onto their best players this summer after missing out on European qualification, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and John Stones set to be the targets of major teams.
