Both Chelsea and Manchester City are steadying themselves in order to pounce on the opportunity to sign £58million Real Madrid flop Kaka, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian has endured a tough time at the Bernabeu since joining La Liga, and Real Madrid are now reportedly ready to sell the 28-year-old.

Kaka signed for the club alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2009, but the former AC Milan star has failed to get off the mark in the Spanish capital, following numerous injuries and a long stint of poor performances.

At first it was believed that manager Jose Mourinho was keen to give the Brazilian another chance to make his mark at the club, but is now set to sell him at the end of the season due to numerous inconsistent run-outs.

As we have seen in January, the Roman Empire at Chelsea is more than willing to splash the cash in order to bring in the world’s best players. £50million Fernando Torres came in during the winter from Liverpool, whilst 23-year-old David Luiz arrived from Benefica for just under £23million.

Numerous reports have already suggested that Frank Lampard will be on him way out of Stamford Bridge in the summer as a part of the expected Abramovich clear-out, and Kaka would be an ideal replacement for the 32-year-old Englishman.

However, Chelsea may have to fight off big money spenders Manchester City, who will attempt to sign the striker for the second time after Kaka ‘bottled it’ on the first occasion (according to City’s own Gary Cook).

Likeliness: 4/5

Kaka has failed to impress so far since his arrival nearly two years ago, and may look towards an easy exit to the world’s best football league – especially with Real Madrid now 7 points adrift of leaders Barcelona.

Having nearly joined City in the same year and with Chelsea now knocking on the door, the Brazilian may look towards a summer transfer to the English Capital, as the Blues have made their intent clear on what they want to achieve in the coming seasons.

Plagued with injuries perhaps, but he has shown his worth (perhaps not £58million worth) at AC Milan, and I’m sure he’d be delighted to join up with former boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Player attraction: 5/5

Well he’s got pace which would put Lennon or Bale to shame, he’s Brazilian so skill is undoubtedly one of his greatest talents and he could nutmeg you quicker than you could say ‘Ronaldinho’. However the most exciting thing that he can do is put the two together, which when he bursts down either flank – is a beauty to watch.

He provides assists and has a phenomenal clean strike which I’m sure even Pepe Reina would be scared of.

Club: Manchester City or Chelsea?

Come on, I can provide the background detail – but you tell me the rest! What do YOU think? [Although watching Kaka play with Torres, well… need I explain?]
