Paris St Germain hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed that he came close to leaving the French champions over the summer, as reported by Goal.com.
The Swedish striker was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly interested after Napoli forward Edinson Cavani moved to the French capital, knocking Ibrahimovic from his high horse.
The 31 year old confirms that he held talks with the big wigs at PSG over a summer departure and that his agent spoke with a number of clubs from around Europe with Chelsea and Jose Mourinho the most concrete.
Ibrahimovic settled his issues with the club though and agreed a new contract offer that should see him stay in France for years to come.
“I can confirm that this summer my agent spoke with several clubs,” he said to RMC Sport.
“I spoke with PSG president [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] and, after our conversation, I decided to stay here and we reached a [contract] agreement.
“I am happy here and I hope that together PSG and I can do something historic.”
