PSG are looking to beat Manchester City to the signature of Edinson Cavani after they approached Napoli with a £50million offer according to talkSPORT.
The big spending French club are aiming to become the best side in Europe and backed by ambitious Qatari owners they will spend anything to get there. However Napoli are in no rush to sell their prized possession and president Aurelio De Laurentiis dismissed the bid.
“The offer was for the January market,” he said. “But he’s not for sale, even less so in January.”
PSG were looking to get one over on City who already declared their interest in the Uruguayan striker who ripped the Citizens apart in the Champions League last week to put City on the brink of being knocked out at the group stages.
City’s departure from the tournament would put them in the Europa League, alongside PSG and Cavani would remain in the Champions League if City departed and he would be in no rush to move away from the Italian club.
The two big spending clubs will continue to battle it out for Cavani who is one of the hottest prospects in world football at the moment and it could take a transfer record offer to have the chance to leave Napoli.
