Liverpool looks to have been halted in their chase for Paris Saint-Germain star Lucas Digne after manager Laurent Blanc urged him to stay, Mirror reports.
The 22-year-old is being targeting by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers as a possible candidate to compete with Alberto Moreno for the left-back role.
However, Blanc revealed that Digne has been performing well in pre-season and is keen to keep him at the Parc des Princes despite the player wanting to leave.
“First, it is he who very clearly asked to leave”, he said.
“For now, he is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. He has shown the results in friendlies.
“This is firstly a very good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season.”
The France international has been left frustrated at his lack of playing time as he is currently considered as backup to first choice defender Maxwell.
He is worried that his limited role with PSG could cost him a place in a national team for the upcoming Euro 2016 competition.
