Stoke city manager Tony Pulis is hoping to be able to bring in a couple of quality players to bolster his squad in the January transfer window.
A year ago Pulis brought in James Beattie and Matthew Etherington, with both men playing major roles in the Potters' survival in the top-flight.
He said:"We must not get too comfortable. We might have to fund it by moving on one or two.
"Last January's arrivals made a massive difference and it would be lovely to bring in two impact players.
"I've had a chat with the chairman as we've got a tough second half of the season.
"People sometimes become very blase about our position.
"I saw Burnley play Arsenal last week and they were unlucky not to win. You look at the run Birmingham are on and see how tight the league is."
