TV pundit Robbie Savage has predicted that Everton will finish above Arsenal in the Premier League table this season.

If the campaign ended today, the Merseyside outfit would secure seventh place, while Arsenal would be sixth on goal difference alone.

Both have 57 points, with five games left on the calendar for Everton to play, while the Gunners have two in hand.

Arsene Wenger's side have a tough run as they face Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, while Ronald Koeman's men have Chelsea to contend with in their run-in.

It could go down to the final day of the season with regards to Everton's and Arsenal's positioning as the two teams go head to head at the Emirates on May 21.

If the North London outfit fail to secure Champions League football come May, it will be the first time in 21 years that they have been unable to do so.

Three defeats in their last six matches has left Arsenal seven points clear of the top four, and Savage does not believe that they will break into the elite group.

Everton are in much better form having been on the losing side just once in their last six league outings.

While answering tweets from fans via The Mirror, Savage made a bold call.

A question from @MattyPhi read: "You have Everton beating Arsenal and Chelsea, yet they won't get more than 65 points? Gotta look at 6th and 7th..."

“Good point, Matt. You're absolutely right - Everton could finish above Arsenal. In fact, I will stick my neck out and say they WILL overhaul Arsenal and finish sixth. In fairness, when I did my calculations last week, I based them on the swings and roundabouts of the race to finish in the top four. But had I included Everton in my predictions, you're correct: I think Ronald Koeman will make the top six when the music stops.”
