ESPN pundit Steve Nicol is not convinced that re-signing Romelu Lukaku would be a good move for Chelsea.

It has been widely speculated over the last few months that the Belgian could return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

He recently admitted - in quotes published by the Guardian - that staying at Goodison Park next season is “not really an option”.

He went on to reveal that he wants to remain in England and play for a club that competes in the Champions League, which strongly suggests that he could move to Chelsea.

If the transfer goes through, it will be Lukaku’s second spell at the West London outfit after failing to make an impact the first time round.

The striker joined Chelsea in 2011 from Anderlecht, but struggled for game time and spent two loan stints at West Bromwich Albion and Everton.

He eventually signed a permanent deal at Goodison Park in a move that cost the Merseyside outfit around £27m.

After scoring 25 Premier League goals last season, Lukaku’s price tag is likely to soar, but Nicol thinks that the move will be a mistake from Chelsea’s point of view.

According to the Daily Star, Nicol told ESPN:

"I'm not so sure it's good business, it's certainly going to happen. It’s great for Lukaku, he will certainly get a big bump in money. He's going to a great team but I'm not sure he fits in. This is definitely going to happen but my goodness, when you've got rid of a player and then you spend a crazy amount of money getting him back. If indeed it happens, every man and his dog says it's going to happen, I'm sure it will. Is he going to be a hit? I'm not so sure.”
