Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has been very impressed by Tottenham Hotspur’s away form this season, but he has claimed that the club need to sort out their Wembley hoodoo.

In three top-flight matches at the national stadium, Mauricio Pochettino’s team have recorded one defeat and two draws.

It seemed that the spell was broken when Spurs defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-1 at their temporary home in the Champions League, but they are still experiencing problems domestically.

Wembley was not an issue in midweek’s Carabao Cup win over Barnsley, but the big test will be when they return home on October 14 for a league clash against Bournemouth.

Before that, Tottenham have away trips to face West Ham United and Huddersfield Town in the top flight, and Merson believes that they are in good shape to take all three points.

The last time that Spurs played the Hammers at the London Stadium, they lost 1-0 following a 65th-minute goal from Manuel Lanzini, but Merson is confident that Pochettino’s men will get the job done this Saturday, despite their opponent’s mini revival.

After losing their first three league matches of the season, Slaven Bilic’s side have since earned a win over Huddersfield and a point from their recent match against West Brom.

In his Sky Sports predictions, Merson tipped Tottenham to beat the Hammers 3-1.

“West Ham have turned a corner after good performances against Huddersfield and West Brom but I can't look past Tottenham here. They have been very good away from home - what they did at Everton was brilliant - and I can see them scoring three again. The Hammers were good against Huddersfield and solid at The Hawthorns but Tottenham are a cut above both. Spurs need to sort out their Wembley problem because it will ruin their Premier League chances if they aren't careful.”
