Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp gave Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen a huge compliment by likening his skill to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Denmark international rarely gets the headlines above some of his other Spurs teammates, but he has put in a number of impressive displays this season.

He was the difference in a tense game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night as he scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute.

Eriksen struck the ball cleanly from around 30 yards out to send it into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

After the match, while analysing the game for Sky Sports, Redknapp compared the technique to one of the world’s best.

“He is class act. He knows he’s go that bit of space when he hits it. It is a brilliant strike, he is so unassuming. When he won man of the match, he asked ‘is it me?’”

“It’s a technique that Cristiano Ronaldo and lots of other players do, it’s a brilliant technique because it gets that dip. A brilliant effort from a brilliant player.”

Eriksen, who has now scored 12 goals this season, has played an important role in helping Mauricio Pochettino’s side push for the Premier League title.

The result against Palace keeps Spurs four points adrift of Chelsea with five games left to play.
