Ray Wilkins believes that Tottenham Hotspur will encounter some trouble when they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.

Sam Allardyce’s side have surprised a number of the so-called bigger teams of the Premier League in recent weeks.

Wins over Chelsea and Arsenal was followed by a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Meeting the Eagles in this kind of form is not the greatest timing for Spurs as they head into the fixture on the back of FA Cup disappointment.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men lost 4-2 to Chelsea in the semi-finals at Wembley, and to make matters even worse, the result gave the Blues a psychological boost in the title race.

Tottenham currently reside seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea with six games left to play in the league campaign, so losing on Wednesday night would hamper their title hopes significantly.

Wilkins believes that Palace are showing resilience that opponents are struggling to deal with, which could prove to be a problem for Tottenham.

While appearing on Sky Sports News, Wilkins said:

“I think Palace will be flying. I have a little feeling Palace will take something off Tottenham tomorrow. It’s going to be a really tough game.

“They won at Stamford Bridge, have beaten Arsenal, they won at Anfield. When they went a goal down, I thought ‘oops, how many is this going to be’, but they show a little bit of resilience now. I think they’ll draw, Palace. They might even go on and win. I think this is a really tough game for Tottenham.”
