QPR boss hints at move for ex-Tottenham hero

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he’s watching former Tottenham playmaker Rafael van der Vaart.

The 62-year-old Super Hoops chief snapped up the silky Dutchman while managing Spurs in 2010.

Van der Vaart quickly became a White Hart Lane idol, with his classy performances and knack of scoring spectacular goals making him a Lilywhites idol before he left in 2012 to re-sign for Hamburg.

But with HSV having scrapped against Bundesliga relegation last term, the 31-year-old has been linked with a move, alerting Redknapp.

‘Arry is known to be keen to get attacking talent to Loftus Road ahead of the big kick-off, with the R’s having let a number of their promotion-winning stars leave.

Steven Caulker and Rio Ferdinand have been signed, and now the QPR gaffer has confessed that van der Vaart is a player that tempts him:

“He’s a great footballer, great professional and a goalscorer – he’d get you 10 to 12 goals a year in that position.” He told West London Sport.

“I like Rafa. He’s an interesting player and has got class.”

Van de Vaart signed for Tottenham from Real Madrid following the 2010 World Cup and netted over 20 goals in two injury-disrupted seasons at the Lane.
