The Super Hoops host the Reds on Sunday, in what looks likely to be a tricky tie for the Londoners with Daniel Sturridge set to return for the visitors, after picking up just four points from their opening seven games.
Things have not been much brighter on Merseyside, with the departure of star man Luis Suarez having contributed heavily to Brendan Rodgers’ new look Liverpool XI struggling to find any sort of form since their 3-0 demolition of Spurs at White Hart Lane.
Anfield almost welcomed the Premier League trophy for the first ever time last season, but Redknapp is sure that his upcoming enemies will not be in the battle come May:
“They’ll be there pushing for the Champions League places, I don’t see them challenging for the league this year.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
However Redknapp did go on to say that he believes Liverpool deserved to win the title last season:
“I thought they were great last year, I really did.
“When I watched the game at Manchester City I thought they’re sure to win the league now.
“Chelsea went there and did a job on them, and then it took it all away from them.
“I felt overall they deserved to win it last year.”
