QPR can stay up says Wright-Phillips

QPR winger Shaun Wright-PhillipsQPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is confident that his side can avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The 31-year-old scored the only goal of the game as the Super Hoops overcame local rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, in one of the shock results of the season.

Despite the win, QPR remain rooted to the foot of the table, due to goal difference, and five points from safety.

But, Wright-Phillips believes that the victory against his former club shows that Rangers can turn their season around and stay in the top flight:

“If Chelsea struggled to break us down, with the way we played against them, then a lot of teams will,” he is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“We’ve never stopped believing we could escape ever since we got in this situation.

“We still believe it strongly and it was a great relief to get that result at Stamford Bridge.”

He was also hopes that the result will be the catalyst to some improved performances away from Loftus Road:

“Away from home we haven’t been the best and we’ve dropped a lot of points, so this is something we have to consolidate now.

“We tried to frustrate Chelsea and catch them on the break and we did that well.”
