QPR keen to keep former Liverpool target

QPR are planning a shock new contract offer for unsettled striker Loic Remy, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The France international had looked unlikely to return to Loftus Road since his loan spell at Newcastle, with Liverpool having been on the verge of tying up an £8.5m swoop for his signature.

However they pulled out of a deal after problems were discovered during his medical, which has forced the 27-year-old to head back to London.

The Magpies are now thought to be leading the race for the man who hit 14 goals in the black and white shirt last season, but his price tag – believed to be around £12m for teams out of European competition – and his lofty wage demands may render the move impossible.

Harry Redknapp is known to be a massive fan of the silky attacker after snapping him up during January 2013 – the campaign in which the R’s dipped out of the Premier League – and now it’s understood that QPR chief is keen to persuade him to stay and fire the club to safety.
