QPR are ready to release troublesome midfielder Joey Barton, Sky Sports claim.
The temperamental former captain was dismissed on the last day of 2011-12 against Manchester City for violent conduct, with Mark Hughes fed up with the player’s ill-discipline.
Barton has been handed a 12-match ban by the FA, and as such the Loftus Road club are eager to offload Barton to cut their wage bill.
The player has expressed his desire to move to Marseille, who have been speculated with an attempt to sign him.
Rangers are willing to help facilitate a move across to France for Barton by releasing him on a free transfer so the Ligue 1 side do not have to pay a fee for his services.
