Reading win transfer fight for Pogrebnyak

Reading are thought to have won he race to sign in-demand striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, according to The Sun.

The Russia international spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, and caused quite a stir with impressive performances and bagging goals.

With the attacker available on a free transfer a raft of teams in the Premier League have moved to try and secure the eastern European hitman’s services this summer.

Despite Fulham trying to make his move from Stuttgart permanent, newly-promoted Reading are thought to have tied up a deal to bring the striker to the Madejski Stadium.

Aston Villa and West Ham were believed to have also submitted proposals to Pogrebnyak, but the player will move to Reading if and when he completes a medical at the Royals.
