Real Madrid boss drops hint over future of Man United target

Manchester United looks to have been halted in their chase to sign Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo following remarks made by manager Rafa Benitez, Daily Mail reports.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a return to Old Trafford over the past few months amid speculation that the Spanish giants were ready to sign his potential replacement.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, and even United’s Memphis Depay are being said to have been lined up in recent weeks.

However, Benitez has dropped a slight hint that despite talks of his potential departure, he hopes Ronaldo continues to play for the squad.

“Nobody knows what is going to happen in the long term. Cristiano is a fundamental player for us and I hope he is here for many more years,” he said.

The winger has also come out to admit that his future is still uncertain, but he is currently happy playing for his side at the moment.

“At this moment, I’m happy playing for Real Madrid but I don’t know what will happen in my future. I must choose the way that makes me happy,” he said.

The squad is currently preparing to host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League after coming back from their match in Paris with a 0-0 draw two weeks ago.
