Real Madrid are considering a move for Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois as an alternative to Manchester United ace David de Gea, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The European champions have been heavily linked with De Gea for quite some time, with Real looking to replace veteran Iker Casillas with the Man United goalkeeper.
However with De Gea in negotiations over a new Red Devils contract, the La Liga giants are now looking at alternatives to the 24-year-old shot-stopper.
And Spanish sources have suggested that Madrid are turning to Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois, despite the likelihood that the Blues will reject any offer for their star man.
Courtois developed to become one of the world’s best goalkeepers during three years on loan at Atletico Madrid, helping his former club win the La Liga title last season.
But with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho keen on signing Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, the Los Blancos could use the French defender as bait in luring Courtois to the Santiago Bernabeu.
