Real Madrid are pondering the sale of top Arsenal target Karim Benzema to fund a move for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, according to reports from the Metro.
Benzema has been heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu in recent weeks, with the Gunners reportedly making a £31.3million bid for the France international.
And it was believed that the La Liga giants weren’t keen on selling the 27-year-old this summer, but with Financial Fair Play in consideration, Real will need to find some funds as they close in on the signing of Germany international Reus.
This will be a welcome boost for the Gunners, who have been targeting a striker to give Olivier Giroud competition up front for some time.
However, English rivals Liverpool will not be too pleased, as the Reds were planning a £46million raid on Reus as a replacement for Raheem Sterling.
Benzema played 46 games in all competitions last season, scoring 22 goals.
