Chelsea have moved ahead of Arsenal in the chase for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira amid reports that the European champions are interested in Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech, Express reports.
The return of Thibaut Courtois on loan from Atletico Madrid has pushed Cech into becoming Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s number two, and the long-serving keeper has admitted he is looking to depart in January.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with goalkeepers recently, as Iker Casillas’ poor form has seen the Spain captain consider a Santiago Bernabeu exit.
Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea is also a target for the La Liga side, but the Red Devils are not looking to sell, forcing Real manager Carlo Ancelotti to plan a loan move for Chelsea’s Cech instead.
With Chelsea also keen on Real’s Sami Khedira, Ancelotti may use the German World Cup winner as part of an exchange deal to land Cech.
This potential transfer will come as a blow to Arsenal, who were hoping to sign Khedira all summer.
