Real Madrid will make a sensational attempt to resign former player Mesut Ozil from Arsenal if they lose James Rodriguez, Metro report.
The German playmaker has come into his own at the Emirates Stadium and has been a key man for the Gunners this term, providing 12 Premier League assists.
Ozil left Madrid to move to North London on transfer deadline day two summers ago, with the diminutive schemer seemingly being pushed out of the Santiago Bernabeu in a cost-cutting exercise after the Spaniards splurged on Gareth Bale.
Rodriguez is not guaranteed a first-team spot in the Spanish capital and recent rumblings have suggested that Chelsea could make a move for the Colombian star in January.
The report states that if the former Monaco attacker was to move to the Blues or anyone else, Madrid could well make a stunning attempt to resign Ozil to take his place in Rafa Benitez’s squad.
