Manchester United star David de Gea is set to no longer be a target for Real Madrid, with the Red Devils goalkeeper closing in on a new long-term contract to keep him at Old Trafford, according to reports from the Mirror.
De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to the European champions in the past few transfer windows, with the club reportedly keen on replacing veteran shot-stopper Iker Casillas with the 24-year-old.
But it seems that Real manager Carlo Ancelotti is satisfied rotating Casillas and summer signing Keylor Navas between the sticks, and is looking to spend to reinforce other positions instead.
De Gea was a subject of interest for Real due to his expiring contract, which ends in the summer of 2016.
However, it seems that United will tie the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper on a new long-term deal, which will come as a massive boost for the Red Devils.
