Real Madrid have told Manchester United and Chelsea they will need to pay £19million to sign centre-back Raphael Varane, Express reports.
Varane has rose to become one of the best young defenders in the past few years but has seen his first team chances limited at the Santiago Bernabeu, due to manager Carlo Ancelotti’s preference of Sergio Ramos and Pepe as his centre-back pairing.
And according to sources in Spain, the former AC Milan manager has slapped a £19million price tag for him to leave this January.
This will alert Premier League duo Chelsea and Man United, who were both heavily linked with a move for the France international during the summer.
Jose Mourinho will be extremely keen to sign Varane, as it was the Blues boss that purchased the 21-year-old from Lens while still in charge of Real Madrid.
Varane is seen as the perfect player to replace John Terry in the near future, with the Blues captain at the twilight of his career.
They will however need to fend off interest from the Red Devils, who are monitoring Varane with their priority during the winter window signing a top class centre-back.
