Germany midfielder Toni Kroos has revealed his relief in snubbing Manchester United in favour of a move to Real Madrid, Express reports.
The World Cup winner was heavily linked with a move to United this past summer, with Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal extremely keen on his services at Old Trafford.
However Real Madrid came in with a late bid and Kroos chose to work under Carlo Ancelotti for the European champions instead.
The La Liga giants recently won the FIFA Club World Cup during the weekend, and Kroos showed his delight and believes he made the right decision in joining Real Madrid rather than Man United.
He told reporters: “I’m so happy to win the Club World Cup for a second time. This trophy is so good for Real Madrid, we are a great family.
“I chose Real Madrid and now I’m so happy. I was right to sign for Madrid.
“Before coming here, I didn’t know what to expect, but I made the decision. I was looking for something new and I was lucky that I signed for Real Madrid.”
