Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has come out to back struggling Manchester United star Memphis Depay for success in the future, Daily Star reports.
The 21-year-old joined the club from PSV Eindhoven during the summer for £31million with high expectations given his performance in the Dutch league.
However, the winger has so far struggled to adapt to the English game and has failed to impress manager Louis van Gaal over the course of his past few matches.
Despite his recent showings, Ronaldo still believes that Depay can reach the same level with players such as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Juventus’ Paul Pogba, and also Barcelona’s Neymar.
“You see many players with potential,” he told BT Sport.
“Hazard for example, the No7 of Manchester Depay is a good player too, Pogba and maybe Neymar.”
The United star has now been dropped from the Netherlands national team and has also recently been benched at club level by his manager.
He has so far featured in eight out of a possible 11 league matches, but has only been able to find the back of the net on one occasion this term and is yet to provide an assist (whoscored.com).
