Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he still misses playing for Manchester United and former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Express reports.
Ronaldo won his third Ballon D’or, beating Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer, to the prestigious award in Switzerland last night.
And although the Portugal captain just signed a contract extension with Real, Ronaldo has revealed there are still moments when he reminisces about his time at Old Trafford.
“I think about Manchester United,” Ronaldo said. “The beginning of my career was there, that’s where I started.
“I know the fans are there supporting me.”
The 29-year-old also had some kind words ex-boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who had a strong relationship with Ronaldo when he was still developing as a player.
“I haven’t had a message from Sir Alex yet but I speak with him often,” he added.
“He told me to keep improving all the time. He said: ‘Cristiano, you’re the best, don’t worry about the rest’.
“He’s fantastic, I miss him.”
The former Sporting Lisbon youngster has been heavily linked with a return to United during the summer, but Ronaldo has played down any rumours regarding a Santiago Bernabeu exit.
