Chelsea star Petr Cech’s agent has confirmed talks with Real Madrid over a possible transfer, Daily Star reports.
Thibaut Courtois’ arrival from Atletico Madrid over the summer pushed Cech down the goalkeeper pecking-order, and the Blues legend has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge ever since.
The likes of Liverpool and Arsenal have been rumoured destinations for the Czech international, however it seems that European champions Real Madrid have already pushed for negotiations.
Cech’s representative Victor Kolar said: “We’ve been in contact with Real Madrid, but they don’t need a keeper just now.
“It’s unlikely Petr will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title.
“Petr still has the ambition to play as many matches as possible. But it´s impossible now. However, he has a good feeling from the overall attitude towards him.
“The club show him respect, they treat him in the same way as he would if he was first choice.
“He does not feel any difference [in the attitude of the coaching staff] between him and Courtois, which is important for him.
“The agreement is – and Jose fulfils it so far – that Petr should get his chance to maintain match sharpness.
“I am sure it is a big advantage for a manager when he has two top keepers.”
