Real Madrid will match David De Gea’s £30million release clause next summer to facilitate a move away from Manchester United, according to reports from the Sun.
De Gea was heavily linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu during the summer, and it looked certain he was going to depart ahead of the transfer deadline back in August.
However, the move broke down in the final minutes due to late paperwork, leaving De Gea stuck at Old Trafford until at least the next transfer window.
A week later, the 25-year-old signed a new four-year contract with United and recently came out to reveal that he is happy at the club, but a £30million release clause was inserted into his deal, meaning Real can come in again at the end of the campaign and avoid last summer’s fiasco.
It seems the Spain international is still hoping to return to his home country, where his girlfriend currently resides.
De Gea has kept an impressive seven clean sheets in 13 appearances for the Red Devils so far this season.
