Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has revealed he hopes to be 100% fit for their clash against Liverpool this weekend, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Aguero sustained a hamstring injury while he was on international duty with Argentina back on October 9, with his last game for the Sky Blues being their 6-1 win over Newcastle United in which he scored an incredible five goals.
However, City have been boosted by his return to full training this week, with the former Atletico Madrid star desperate to play a part when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side visit the Etihad on Saturday.
“I do hope I can play in this game,” Aguero told MCFC.com.
“I’m doing everything in my power to get to the match in top condition.
“It’s been a frustrating time. Obviously the game against Newcastle was special because it’s not every week you get to score five goals in one game.
“The only other occasion I remember scoring five in a single match was when I was 12.
“I was playing in the pre-youth divisions for Independiente (in Argentina) and it was the first important tournament that I’d participated in. We played against a local team and won 7-0 and I scored five times but it doesn’t happen too often, does it?
“I managed to score four against Tottenham last season, which was the most I’d scored as a professional up to that point.”
The 27-year-old went on to praise ex-City midfielder James Milner, who made a switch to Anfield during the summer on a free transfer due to the lack of regular playing time.
“I hope he is able to recover. He’s a great player though it will be odd to see him wearing another team’s colours,” he added.
“He is a true professional and I’m sure he’s going to come against us with everything he’s got.”
Aguero was the Premier League’s top scorer with 26 goals in 33 league appearances last season, supplying an additional eight assists in the process.
