Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has voiced his sympathy for injury-stricken defender Jonathan Woodgate, who has been out of action since November.

The 30-year-old England international continues to be bothered by groin injuries and has undergone treatment in both the USA and Australia in a bid to get to the bottom of his problems.

Redknapp revealed:"He texts me all the time - he has been very low, obviously.

"He is at a very low point in his life. He is stuck in a little flat somewhere and he goes to the gym all day doing his work trying to recover.

"Can you imagine what his life has been like? He has treatment all day and he is doing recovery work. They have kept him out there, so we will have to wait and see.

"He is a great lad, a top bloke, but his problem is that nobody can get to the bottom of his injury.

"You are better off with a broken leg. Aaron Lennon had the same thing - they said he would be out for two weeks and then suddenly it is five months.

"It takes time and even now he has not played 90 minutes. Woody has had a nightmare."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
