Influential centre-back Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he would like to end his career at Old Trafford.

The England captain still has two years left on his current deal but has admitted he would like to finish his playing days with Manchester United.

Ferdinand has had numerous injury set-backs over the last two years but he still aims to prove to boss Sir Alex Ferguson that he deserves a longer stay at the club.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Ferdinand said:“I want to finish my career at United.

“I have two years on my contract, and if the manager sees that I am fit enough, a four-year deal at that age would be great.”

Ferdinand has recovered from a hamstring injury and is set to take his place in the heart of United’s defence for Monday’s top of the table clash with Arsenal at the Theatre of Dreams.
