Rival clubs await Norwich City’s striker decision

Norwich striker Kei KamaraSporting Kansas City boss Peter Vermes has revealed that there has been plenty of rival interest in on-loan Norwich forward Kei Kamara.

The Major League Soccer club are slightly upping the pressure on Canaries officials for a decision on the future of the 28-year-old Sierra Leone frontman, who has done well since arriving at Carrow Road in January.

Neither Kamara nor Norwich officials have announced their intentions once the loan agreement ends on May 6, with the option there for the club to buy him outright.

Vermes told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday that he remains in contact with the player but does not wish to pile pressure on him for an answer.

He said: “I think it would be wrong to put the pressure on him. I’m just giving him space. He’s got this experience, and it would be ridiculous to give him the experience and be bothering him every day. There’s no sense in doing that.

“We’d take him back in a heartbeat, if that winds up being the situation,” Vermes added.

“But it’s like I’ve said, there are a lot of suitors out there for him. So if it’s not one, it could be another. Some of that discussion has to be with him as well, and I haven’t had those discussions with him. But there are a lot of teams out there that are interested. So we’re going to have to kind of evaluate those with him and make those decisions.”
