Hat-trick hero Robin van Persie admits winning the Premier League is a “great feeling” after Manchester United secured the title.
The Dutchman scored all three goals, including a spectacular left-footed volley to give his side a 2-0 lead, as United saw off Aston Villa 3-0 at Old Trafford to land a 20th league crown.
Van Persie never managed to secure the Premier League title at previous club Arsenal and the striker is delighted to have finally won the biggest prize in English football.
Despite his three-goal haul the striker insists that winning silverware is all the counts.
“It didn’t really matter who scored as long as we won this game and we did win this game,” Van Persie told Sky Sports 1. “From the first minute everyone played well and everyone wanted it. It was a great to score so early and it was a fantastic game of football.
“I’m very happy but it’s weird. I had to wait for so long for my first title and it’s a great feeling.”
